Neymar’s rethinking! PSG-Star talks about his future

Last summer, superstar Neymar (27) was determined to leave Paris Saint-Germain for FC Barcelona.

The Brazilian never concealed the fact that he was not happy in France. But this is supposed to be completely different now. In an interview with France Football, Neymar said: “Why should I want to leave? I still have a two-year contract, and the team continues to develop. We have to focus on this season to win as many titles as possible.” The big goal this season is to win the Champions League.

A rethink at Neymar! Meanwhile, a change to his former club doesn’t seem to be an issue any more – unlike last summer: “I didn’t want to hurt anyone. But I always knew that you had to leave if you weren’t happy anymore.” But he assures us: “I’m happy in Paris now.”

Neymar also explained that only his family and his closest friends know the true Neymar: “What people see is something completely different. And in the end, they see little! The real Neymar is very peaceful, very happy. He is someone who likes to stay with family and friends. I like to enjoy all the moments of life with everyone. It’s very difficult to know a person if you only see them from the outside.”

The Brazilian international also revealed why he switched to PSG in 2017. “I didn’t leave Barça to become the best player in the world or to win the Ballon d’Or. I left because I needed new goals. It wasn’t about changing clubs to stop playing with Messi and increase the chances of winning the Balloon d’Or either.”

Neymar has only words of praise for Messi anyway. “Messi is an incredible player,” he enthuses. “It’s the best I’ve ever seen. It’s no wonder he has six Balloons d’Or because he’s been at the top for years. There should be a Balloon d’Or just for him.”

The 27-year-old attacker also spoke at length about his relationship with PSG colleague Kylian Mbappé.

“We are close friends; we help each other win on the pitch and always score goals. He is a boy who has something very special. We constantly send each other messages, and there is no competition between us. (…) Our relationship consists of friendship, comradeship. If that doesn’t exist in football, it never works well. We have a great bond on the grass and intimacy that shows itself in our game as in life. I think it’s good for both of us and also for the team. We love to be together, to play together, and it’s a relationship that I think can help Paris-Saint-Germain.”
