Title contender in top form, Misfits Gaming continues to lose

Matchday 4 in the League of Legends European Championship went without a hitch for the title contender G2 Esports. G2 Esports was able to win the match thanks to the Mid-Laners, while Misfits Gaming continued to rank at the bottom of the table. Fnatic is also in his first defeat and is now level on points with G2 Esports in the first place.

For Fnatic, the fourth matchday of the LEC didn’t go without a hitch. While their biggest rival G2 Esports won two games, Fnatic suffered their first defeat. On Friday, Europe’s record champion won against Team Vitality, who ranked 6th after this matchday. Team Vitality had won both matches on matchday 3, but could not continue his run after the break because of the Rift Rivals.

Responsible for this were Fnatic’s jungler Mads ‘Broxah’ Brock-Pedersen and Mid-Lanarian Tim ‘Nemesis’ Lipovsek. Broxah dominated the early game with Lee Sin, while Nemesis could not be stopped later with Corki.

The defeat came on Saturday in the last match of the evening against Splyce. In the early game, Fnatic could not win gold, both on the Mid-Lane and the Bot-Lane important kills were given to Splyce. Fnatic’s supporter Hylissang, who was on the road with Rakan, died after an unsuccessful gank in the middle and had already died 4 times after 11 minutes. Meanwhile, Splyce’s Mid-Laner Humanoid shone with the new champion Qiyana.

After 30 minutes both teams were on the same footing, but Humanoid was too strong with Qiyana. Shortly afterwards Splyce could secure Baron Buff and thus 10 minutes later after an Ace against Fnatic the victory.

Misfits Gaming in the crisis?

Matchday 4 catapulted Misfits Gaming to rank 9 in the table. This means that the team, which was so successful last year, together with Excel Esports are the last in the table. The team has two wins from eight games so far and is thus below their expectations. Misfits Gaming had to admit defeat on Friday against G2 Esports and on Saturday against Team Vitality.

Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther was decisive for the defeat against G2 Esports. Caps made life difficult for both solo lanes with Renekton: Paul ‘sOAZ’ Boyer in the top lane as well as Adam ‘LIDER’ Ilyasov were executed without help. Both never really found their way into the game (after 15 minutes 8,000 gold lead since G2), so G2 Esports had an easy game thanks to Caps’ Renekton. Misfits could secure Baron Buff, but for G2 it was an easy win.
