OP Gaming Rangers are the winners of the FACEIT Global Summit: PUBG Classic in London. In a close competition, several teams from different regions could shine.
The North American team STK finished second, the Europeans from Team Liquid third.
After the group phase, the later tournament winner OP Gaming Rangers was only 19th out of 24 ranks. Only after the following elimination phase with the 16 teams, who had not made it to the final before, could the Koreans narrowly qualify.
In the twelve final encounters with the 16 remaining opponents, everything was at stake: 400,000 US dollars total prize money was at stake for the teams. The points earned in each match were based on the teams’ placement within the match and the successful elimination.
It remained exciting until the last second. In the end, the OP Rangers won with a win in the last match with a wafer-thin four-point advantage over STK, who showed a great performance in the same round with a third place and eleven eliminations.
With up to 145,000 spectators online, interest in the competition was well above the usual audience figures for Western leagues such as the National PUBG League and the PUBG Europe League (PEL).
