It is already the fifth victory in a big competition this year. After the rather sobering year 2018 Astralis is again the measure of all things in CS:GO.
Astralis has won the eighth season of the Esports Championship Series in CS:GO. In the final against the North American opponent Team Liquid, the Danes won 2:1 (15:19; 16:11; 16:8).
The title win underlines once again the positioning of Astralis as number 1 in the unofficial CS:GO World Ranking of HLTV. “We didn’t have the best start to the season, but coming back feels very good,” reported Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander (24) of Astralis in the winner’s interview after the game. For Astralis it was the fourth title win in the eighth season of the league.
The final between Astralis and Team Liquid is already a classic of the last months. Unlike usual, Team Liquid chose Vertigo as the first map of the final series. Although they had prepared themselves for this scenario, Astralis brought the game into extra time. In the end, Team Liquid won 9:15 pm and was ahead in the series. Astralis, however, was not to be put off and won convincingly on Nuke and Dust2.
From the Arlington arena, the Astralis team went straight to the airport, with the ESL Pro League play-offs in Odense, Denmark, just 37 hours after their victory in Texas. Team Liquid will also make their way to Odense and, according to a tweet from the organization’s manager, will land in Odense just one hour before the start of the match. A delicate undertaking.
Behind it, the ambition of many organizers stands to align the last competition of the year. The winner of this competition this year is the BLAST Pro Series, whose final matches will take place on 13th and 14th December in Bahrain. Astralis will again meet Team Liquid there.
