Now Jürgen Klopp (52) with FC Liverpool is unstoppable, on his way to the first championship since 1990… Manchester City with trainer Pep Guardiola (48) is defeating United in the city derby and loses 1:2 (0:2).
Derby bankruptcy for Pep!
Marcus Rashford on a penalty kick (23rd.) and Anthony Martial (29th.) set the course early for United to win. The Citizens’ follow-up goal by Nicolas Otamendi (85th) came much too late.
Guardiola: “You can’t win everything. Sometimes you lose. The most important thing is not to give up. In all the games this season we’ve played the way I wanted. Where we made mistakes, we will improve. But we can’t deny their quality (from Manchester United). We will try to learn for the future.”
With another 32 points, City is now 14 points behind Liverpool. Former champion Leicester City (35), who plays for Aston Villa on Sunday, is eleven points behind the Klopp team.
Liverpool had solved his task with a 3:0 (2:0) in Bournemouth on Saturday. The goals for the Reds were scored by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (35th minute), Naby Keita (44th) and Mohamed Salah (54th).
Tottenham Hotspur, who will play for FC Bayern in the Champions League on Wednesday, was in strong form. FC Burnley was beaten 5-0 (3-0) by coach José Mourinho’s team. Goalscorer Harry Kane scored two goals (4/54), Lucas Moura (9), Son Heung-Min (32) and Moussa Sissoko (74) also scored for Tottenham.
