The Overwatch League stops in Atlanta this weekend for the second so-called Homestand. There the participants of the OWL have the last chance to qualify for the Stage 3 Playoffs of the current season.
Special attention will be paid to the match between Shanghai Dragons and Philadelphia Fusion, who are in direct competition for a qualifying spot. To solve one of the eight tickets for the playoffs, however, Philadelphia would first have to beat Shanghai directly and then hope for another defeat for the Chinese team.
New York Excelsior, Vancouver Titans and Hangzhou Spark, on the other hand, will be able to travel to Atlanta in a relaxed atmosphere: The three teams currently have a positive record with five wins more than five defeats each. New York Excelsior has not even lost in this phase of the OWL.
After Dallas, Homestad in Atlanta is the second regional event of its kind. The long-term goal of the Overwatch League is to strengthen the local presence of the teams and to create a league with home and away matches, as is usually the case with traditional sports.
