Epic Games has also increased the prize pool for the upcoming Winter Royale event at short notice.
As a result of a massive increase in the number of matches in Duo mode, the number of players who can participate in the Winter Royale event starting today has been increased by 20,000. Due to the increased number of participants, the prize pool for the event will also be increased.
Epic Games announced the Fortnite Winter Royale 2019 on December 3rd, the event itself will run from today until December 22nd. During this time, players will try to collect as many points as possible in a tournament-specific scoring system during predetermined times. The best players in the resulting ranking will receive prize money.
You can take part in the event regardless of the console you are playing on. No matter if it is a PC, PlayStation, X-Box, the Nintendo Switch or on mobile devices like smartphones or tablets, the rules are the same for all players. The players are assigned to a partner in duo mode and then try to earn as many points as possible as a team.
In doing so, the score will vary slightly from day to day. On the first day of the competition, it is less about placements; instead, the main focus is on eliminating other players. (1 point per elimination.) Only an overall victory of one round will earn the participants additional points (15).
On the following two days, the better placements of a match are rewarded additionally. For day 2, these are as follows:
Epic victory: 13 points
2nd – 3rd place: 11 points
4th – 6th place: 9 points
7th – 10th place: 7 points
11th – 15th place: 5 points
16th – 21st place: 3 points
22nd – 28th place: 1 point
Per elimination: 1 point
On the third day of the tournament it will be more difficult to get points:
Epic victory: 10 points
2nd – 3rd place: 7 points
4th – 7th place: 5 points
8th – 12th place: 3 points
Per elimination: 1 point
Each day, players have four hours to collect as many points as possible in up to 15 rounds. Depending on the console and region, the best 1000 players (PC, PlayStation, X-Box) can win prize money between a maximum of 9000 and 400 US dollars. On the mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch, the 500 best players will be rewarded with prize money between 7500 and 400 US dollars.
