After the World Cup is before the season. Who will follow NRG in 2020?
The Rocket League Championship Series Season 9 is in the starting blocks. On February 2nd, the ten best teams from Europe will be competing for a total prize pool of over 300,000 US dollars.
FC Barcelona and AS Monaco
Two major football clubs that are involved in Rocket League are also involved. FC Barcelona celebrated its entry into the Rocket League as early as the RLCS Season 7 in April 2019 and achieved second place. In the eighth season, the Catalans only finished 6th.
For AS Monaco, it is the first season in the highest league. In November last year, the roster around German Maik “Tigreee” Hoffmann was able to win the Rocket League Rival Series and thus rose to the top.
The circle of favourites includes last year’s winner Team Reciprocity as well as the French team Renault Vitality, which reached both the European final and the World Championship final and lost narrowly 3:4 against NRG Esports.
The German organisation mousesports finished the last season on the fourth place of the table and then flew out against Renault Vitality in the quarter-finals of the playoffs.
More teams, more action
With the start of the 9th season, ten instead of eight teams will compete. That means more games and more competition. In North America, too, big names are gathering who are already more than familiar from other titles.
Reigning world champion NRG Esports will be up against Rogue, G2 Esports and Cloud 9, among others. The Pittsburgh Knights are the runners-up and therefore not to be underestimated.
On a global level, four teams each come from Europe and North America, South America and Oceania provide two organisations.
More information about the rosters and the upcoming season will follow in the next few weeks.
