Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City introduces slot machines for the home

The Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City (New Jersey) presented land-based slot machines for the first time on Monday, which customers can play from home.

The devices are to be offered in cooperation with the IT company Softweave Ltd. to appeal to players who cannot travel to the gambling metropolis or who do not trust programmed online slot machines.

How do the slot machine games work?

The new Hard Rock slot machines are based on the principle of live casino gaming on the Internet. Here, games of chance are recorded in studios and transmitted in real-time to online casino customers, who can bet on the outcome of a game round.

How can Hard Rock customers play at the machines?

To participate in the games, Hard Rock customers need an account for the company’s online casino. Online gambling is legal in New Jersey.

Previously, the technology in New Jersey was mainly used for live dealer games such as baccarat and blackjack.

It has not been used in the slot machine segment. This is now changing with the advance of the Hard Rock casino, which wants to offer more transparency through the live slots, as Joe Lupo (president of Hard Rock Atlantic City) says:

“Credibility and transparency have been of paramount importance in advancing online gaming (…). The difference between seeing a computer image and the kind of machine a customer has been playing for years may be easier to understand.”

In order to offer customers the greatest possible security, the gaming machines are supervised in a separate room that is not accessible to the public.

The step into the age of online gambling

Kresimi Spajic, Hard Rock’s Vice President of Online Gaming, hopes that the live slots will provide a smooth transition from land-based casino business to the online casino business.

Hard Rock wants to use the live slots to try to get its customers excited about its virtual offers:

“As far as psychology goes, there are land-based players who are afraid to do anything online (…). This helps turn them into online customers. This is a real, physical machine that they can see, almost as if they’re sitting in front of it.”

Another argument for the new live slot machines is the choice of games. Games that are not yet available in online casinos are already available on the machines.
