DatabaseBasketball is a record book for professional basketball in North America — the NBA and the ABA, which ran alongside it from 1967 to 1976. The archive holds 559 player career pages, 364 franchise and team-season pages, 129 draft classes, 31 leaderboard and award pages and 148 league seasons, alongside a 649-term glossary and 28 reference features. Everything on the statistical side is United States and Canadian league history; nothing here is a live score or a projection.

Where the numbers come from

The season lines, career totals, draft boards and coaching records are the site’s own statistical tables, kept as the archive recorded them. When a column is empty it is because the league did not keep that statistic in that season — steals and blocks before 1973-74 are the clearest case — and an empty cell is left empty rather than estimated.

On the betting side of the site, anything stated about an operator is taken from what that operator publishes: the licence it holds, the bonus terms, the wagering requirement, the payment methods and the withdrawal limits. Figures, dates, licence numbers and quotations are reproduced from their source. Where there is no source, the field is left out of the page.

What we do not do

  • We do not fill a missing statistic with an estimate, and we do not carry a figure whose source we cannot name.

Corrections

The archive is historical and it has gaps and errors like any record book. A correction that names the page and the source it should follow is the fastest one to apply: write to the desk through the contact page.
