What Is ‘All Blue’ ?

The favourite way used to describe a five-card hand in poker is all blue, whose other slogan is ‘all black’. It inscribes that a player has a flush, which comprises of cards from two blacks suits which could be either clubs or spades. Another colour used in place of ‘all blue’ is purple which signifies the same five-card flush as ‘all black’.

In most cases, particularly at poker tables, players makes more references to ‘all black’ than ‘all blue’. This slang/slogan (all blue and all black) has the same meaning but is used interchangeably; it’s a notable rainbow number used in describing a flush hand. It is a hand used to describe any of the five matching suits among diamonds, clubs, hearts or spades. Two among those popularly mentioned suits (clubs and spade) are usually black and red respectively which is what brought about the popular slang ‘all black’ and ‘all blue’. As more players tend to pay attention to the game, the slang, in turn, becomes a regular word among them (all black, all blue) and other colours also came into play like ‘all pink’, ‘all blue’, ‘all purple’ and ‘all green’ also included. Among all the newly formulated colors all green has a different meaning which refers to any flush and does not in any way refer to the color of the suit.

While ‘all green’ does not add any significance to the suit, ‘all blue’ suits must include one of the five spades, or five clubs which are mostly random numbers from the set or in some cases may result in a consecutive run of names which is also called a ‘straight flush’. ‘All blue’ has one of the best hands in the game, while ‘all blue’ royal signifies the five highest valuable cards with all signifying a spade or club suit. The only condition that allows a player to beat this hand is only by a five of a kind wildcard hand that is capable of outranking all others. Depending on the style of game played, having a flush with the wild card can’t be called ‘all blue’ or the natural rainbow shade because the wild card has the ultimate power to break a run of other matching colours.
