After a clear demonstration of power, G2 Esports crowned themselves unbeaten champions of the European League of Legends League LEC.
With a clear score of 3-0, G2 Esports won the duel against the league competition of Origen, the eSports organization of LoL legend xPeke.
With the victory in Rotterdam, G2 crowned itself the first regular champion of the rebranded EU LCS, which has been operating as a franchise league under the title League of Legends European Championship (LEC) since its restart.
The two teams already met in the quarterfinals. There G2 Esports won against OG and entered the final of the European competition with a score of 3:1.
Origen got a second chance in the semi-final against Fnatic to play in the final and defeated last year’s winner and vice world champion, also with a score of 3-1. Accordingly, the team hoped to beat G2 in a “return match” and crown itself European champion.
G2 Esports dominant
Already in the run-up to the last duel of the LEC Spring Split (first half), G2 was the clear favorite, which is not least due to the performance of the past weeks and the final result of 15 won to five lost games.
With the victory in Rotterdam, G2 can not only look forward to a new trophy but also the participation in the first international tournament, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), is now pending.
In Vietnam, the eSports organization founded by Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez will face the champions of the other leagues. The teams of Team Liquid (USA / LCS), as well as SK Telecom T1 from Korea (LCK), will be part of the game.
