Game Story

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Grizzlies have a new streak on the road.
The Grizzlies finally stopped a 30-game road losing streak as Shareef-Abdur Rahim scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a 104-95 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
Vancouver, which had been 0-7 on the road this season, won for the first time away from home since a double-overtime triumph over the Los Angeles Clippers on February 16 of last season. Sacramento lost a league-record 43 straight road games from November 1990-91.
"The feeling in the locker room wasn't one of euphoria like you might think," Grizzlies coach Brian Hill said. "These guys expected to win a lot more games than we did. I got a feeling like some of them didn't get a sense of relief. It was almost a sense of anger. We should've had one last night (a three-point loss in Houston). That shows me the competiveness of the guys in the room."
Seemingly finding new ways to lose every game, the Grizzlies finally came up big when it counted the most and outscored Dallas, 29-17, in the fourth quarter.
Michael Dickerson added 21 points and Othella Harrington 16 for the Grizzlies, who stopped an overall 11-game losing streak, the longest in the NBA this season.
Vancouver shot 43 percent (38-of-88) from the field and held a commanding 51-38 rebounding edge.
Dirk Nowitzki scored a career-high 31 points for Dallas but fouled out late in the fourth quarter. His previous high was 29 against Phoenix on April 16 of last seasion.
"It was a bad loss. That's why you don't get too high on the wins and too high on the losses," Dallas coach Don Nelson said. "I'm very disappointed. It was a setback for us. I will take as much responsibility than anybody, but we need to step up to the plate."
Trailing by three points entering the fourth quarter, Vancouver took the lead for good with 7:26 remaining when Brent Price nailed a 3-pointer to make it 87-84.
Dennis Scott, who scored 11 points, drilled a 3-pointer and Abdur-Rahim hit a technical foul shot and converted a layup to give Vancouver a 97-89 advantage with four minutes to go. Dallas got no ccloser than six points thereafter.
"The win is great. It helps to relax your mind a little bit," Abdur-Rahim said. "Now you know you could go out and just play and not worry about losing. Now we could go out and try to get into a winning streak rather than a losing streak."
The Mavericks trailed 51-50 at halftime but it was no fault of Nowitzki, who scored 22 points in the half on 9-of-15 shooting. He made 12-of-24 shots overall before fouling out with 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
"We knew at halftime that it would be a hard game," Nowitzki said. "We're frustrated, but in the NBA there is always another night."
Cedric Ceballos collected 23 points and 12 rebounds and Michael Finley added 17 points for the Mavericks, who shot 45 percent (38-of-85).
