San Antonio (2-0) at Houston (0-2) 8:00 pm EDT ---------------------------------------------------------------- HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The winless Houston Rockets look to hand the defending champion San Antonio Spurs their first defeat of the young season tonight in the first of four meetings between the Midwest Division rivals this season.
The Rockets are coming off Thursday's 98-82 loss in Utah, falling to 0-2 for the first time since dropping a pair against Seattle to open the 1992-93 campaign.
Cuttino Mobley scored 17 points and Hakeem Olajuwon added 12 for Houston while Charles Barkley was held to just eight points on 3-of-10 shooting.
San Antonio is off to a fast start, improving to 2-0 with Thursday's 104-81 rout of the Golden State Warriors. The Spurs have captured 33 of their last 38 regular-season games and, counting last season's playoffs, are 48-7 since March 1.
David Robinson scored 19 points in just 25 minutes against the Warriors while Tim Duncan collected his second straight double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Eligible for free agency at the end of the season, Duncan has averaged 17.5 points and 15 rebounds in San Antonio's two wins. He had 20 and 16 in Tuesday's 89-76 triumph over Philadelphia.
Samaki Walker contributed 16 points off the bench as five San Antonio players hit for double figures.
The Spurs took all three meetings from the Rockets last year in the lockout-abbreviated campaign. In the last contest, San Antonio rallied from a 23-point deficit to post an 86-83 victory when Mario Elie hit a 3-pointer with one tenth of a second left.
