Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Cavaliers won in Chicago for the first time in more than four years, holding the Bulls scoreless for the first four minutes of overtime in an 89-85 victory.
Brevin Knight atoned for a pair of turnovers late in regulation with two clutch free throws in the extra session, capping a superb all-around game. Knight had nine points, eight rebounds, a season-high 16 assists and five steals as Cleveland ended an eight-game losing streak in Chicago, dating to December 19, 1994.
"A very tough game," Knight said. "They played hard. However, I have to give our guys a pat on the back. They never game in even when the crowd got into it a couple of times. Their intensity was not a surprise to us as we saw what they did to New York and some other teams lately."
Cedric Henderson scored a season-high 22 points and Shawn Kemp added 17 and 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers. Both had clutch baskets in overtime, when Cleveland scored the first six points and held Chicago scoreless for the first 4:07.
"I think we just had a good game as a team," Henderson said. "I also didn't try to force anything and the ball just seemed to fall for me. It was a good game for us mentally and physically. We showed a lot of character. We stepped up and hit the big shots when we had to, especially in OT."
Toni Kukoc had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Dickey Simpkins had 14 and 10 for the Bulls, who fell to 3-9 at home and wasted a chance to move out of the Central Division cellar.
"We were our own worst enemy offensively, didn't make many of our free throws and missed a lot of shots," Chicago coach Tim Floyd. "We've won a couple but lost more than our share of games at home. There have been opportunities to win games late which is a positive."
Two turnovers by Knight allowed Chicago to rally late in the fourth quarter. A dunk by Simpkins gave the Bulls an 80-80 tie with 1:43 left and neither team scored in a ragged stretch run.
Kemp opened the overtime scoring with a layup but missed a free throw with four minutes left. Knight made 1-of-2 from the line and Kemp fouled out before Henderson's three-point play gave the Cavs an 86-80 lead with 1:04 remaining.
The Bulls missed their first seven shots until Kukoc's 3-pointer with 53 seconds to go. Simpkins dunked 24 seconds later to cut the deficit to one and the Bulls fouled Knight, who made a pair to give Cleveland an 88-85 lead with 21 seconds to play.
"I was surprised when they fouled me with that much time left," Knight said. "I thought they would have us run a play. They opted to foul and I was able to hit the free throws."
Ron Harper missed a 3-pointer from the left corner and former Bull Corie Blount grabbed the rebound and was fouled with 3.2 seconds left. He made 1-of-2 free throws to seal it.
Wesley Person scored 21 points for the Cavs, who shot 45 percent (38-of-84) from the field, including 5-of-13 from 3-point range.
Brent Barry had 11 points and nine rebounds and Mark Bryant had 11 and seven for the Bulls, who shot 36 percent (31-of-87), made 21-of-30 free throws and held a 50-40 edge in rebounds. Chicago made just 2-of-17 3-pointers.
"We shot 35 percent so I think the overtime was just a carryover," Barry said. "We were not able to knock down shots. If we had been able to put the ball in the basket we could have gotten out of here with a ten or 15-point win. Tonight we were just not able to hit some of the shots we usually get."
