Game Story

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be pleased to head home. Zach Randolph contributed 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting and 13 rebounds as the Portland Trail Blazers handed the Cavaliers a 24th consecutive road defeat with an easy 104-85 triumph. Jeff McInnis scored 15 points, Damon Stoudamire added 14 and Qyntel Woods 13 for the Trail Blazers, who surprisingly lost to Utah in their season opener Wednesday. James, the 18-year-old rookie phenom, struggled for the first time on an NBA court, scoring just eight points on 3-of-12 shooting and adding six assists and four rebounds. He had produced 46 points, 18 rebounds and 17 assists in his first two carrer games. Portland took the lead for good, 25-23, on a jumper by Rasheed Wallace that opened the second quarter. The Blazers saw a 15-point halftime lead cut to 74-67 on a jumper by James with 1:37 left in the third quarter, but Portland scored the final basket of the period and opened the fourth quarter on a 16-2 run to put away the game. Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 21 points, Ricky Davis added 16, eight rebounds and seven assists and Carlos Boozer 15 and nine rebounds for Cleveland, which has not won on the road since an 87-79 triumph at Seattle on January 12. The Blazers narrowly outshot the Cavs, 49 percent (38-of-77) to 48 percent (35-of-73), but made 6-of-15 shots from the arc to just 2-of-11 for Cleveland. Portland also made 22-of-29 free throws and Cleveland 13-of-17.
